Remember to bring the NLRI waiver that the Participant AND Parent or Guardian has signed. No one may observe or participate without such a signed waiver - We will be outside! So dress in layers appropriate for the season starting with a hat, jacket for rain, wind, cold protection.
- Hats, gloves, mittens, wind or snow pants, face masks may be appropriate for winter programs
- Wear comfortable (but not baggy) fitting clothing that you do not mind getting dirty
- Lace up Sneakers or boots preferred (no open-toed sandals, flip-flops, slip-ons or Crocs please)
- Bring a quart or more of water (water bottle)
- We may be out in the sun , so bring your hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug repellents
- Bring a snack to keep your energy up
- A POSITIVE ATTITUDE WILLING TO CHOOSE A CHALLENGE THAT IS APPROPRIATE FOR YOU WHILE SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM OR GROUP!
What not to Bring Participants will refrain from alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs for the duration of the program. Northern Lights Rock and Ice will exercise the right to terminate the program if participants are found to be under the influence of any substance that impairs judgment or compromises the safety of participant(s) and/or staff. Smoking is not permitted. Northern Lights Rock and Ice is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lock your valuables in your vehicle. No cameras, cell phones, ipods etc will be permitted on the course.
What to Expect We design our programs to meet the needs and goals of each group we serve. We believe in a principle called “Challenge by Choice” which gives every individual the opportunity to choose the level of challenge they deem appropriate. The physical and emotional safety of our clients is of the utmost importance to all of us at Northern Lights Rock and Ice. We will not make anyone do anything they do not want to do. If you choose to experience our Challenge Course or Rock and Ice Climbing venues you will be outfitted with state of the art harness, helmet, and other safety equipment and be guided by expert facilitators and instructors.
Where to Meet Meet us at the NLRI cabin behind The Essex Resort and Spa. From Essex Way (exit 10 off of Vt #289 turn onto Freeman Woods Road directly across from The Links Golf Course at Lang Farm. Food and Drinks Northern Lights Rock and Ice will provide water for participants. We also encourage each group to bring whatever food and hydration they want. Northern Lights Rock and Ice does have small snacks, sports drinks, coffee and tea for purchase. If you wish, we can arrange catering for your event. The New England Culinary Institute is next door and can offer a wonderful array of tasty options.
