Multi-level Challenge Course:

Set 24 and 42  feet in the air, our High Courses uniquely allow individuals, couples, or entire teams (up to 32) to progress through these high challenges at the same time with their facilitators (in groups of 8 individuals)- a powerful shared learning experience to add amazing new perspectives.  On the top course all the hard work is rewarded with a flight down our dual 450 zip wires!

Balance Beams on the Top Course:
The first element on the High Course is the Balance Beams.

Earthquake Bridge on the Top Course:
Test your team's Communication and Problem Solving Skills suspended 42 feet in the air. Move your entire team in groups of 8 through the high course challenges to build team trust and communication like nothing else you have tried. This is true team building!

Pipe Dreams on the Top Course:
Another Test of your team's ability to function effectively under stressful conditions. Move your team of eight together, through and around the hanging pipes.

Inner Passage:
Access this traversible high ropes course set approximately 24 feet off the ground via stairs in our Aurora Tower.
Just like our top course the Inner Passage can accommodate your entire team in groups of eight.
Expert NLRI Facilitators guide each group through the Inner Passage challenges: Multi Vine( pictured below) , High Wild Woozey, and Incomplete Bridge and bring your team back to earth via a rappel off our Borealis Tower. Your team will be talking about your experience for a long time to come!

Look no further than Northern Lights Rock & Ice and our dual 450‐foot zip lines for an incredible adrenaline rush!
Once you experience our cargo-net and zip-line once, you’ll want to do it again!

High All Aboard:
The High All Aboard allows 4 climbers to ascend and stand together on the 24 foot tall platform while belayed by their team, an amazing team bonding experience! Those team members who choose not to climb remain vitally involved as belayers on the ground for their climbing team members. This is accomplished by the unique group belay device known as the "Just Right Descender"

Low Elements/Initiatives:
This series of challenges is set less than two feet off of the ground.  Perfect for enhancing communication and teamwork.
Solving these elements takes full cooperation and participation from your entire group.

Activities on the ground:
Many of our best activities do not require harnesses or ropes -- they're done right on the ground.
We can  provide these activities at Northern Lights, indoors at The Essex, or at your business or retreat location.

Rock Climbing  "L" Wall and Cat's Walk Initiative:
Our "L" wall provides a warm weather rock climbing venue with 6 covered climbs and is lit for night climbing. In addition two of the rock climbs top out and provide access to our amazing Cat's Walk initiative  for two climbers walking on the big horizontal beam 25 feet in the air!

Winter Ice Climbing Wall (Seasonal):
Northern Lights is one of the only venues in the nation that builds a 17,000 gallon frozen waterfall for ice-climbing that is open to the public
Whether you're new to the sport or just looking for a controlled adventure (without the long approach), we've got the wall and equipment for your ice climbing adventure.

With a surprisingly accurate texture and feel, this man-made structure provides a controlled climbing experience that is as close to real rock as it gets. Universal Accessibility
NLRI routinely works with climbers with special needs. Stretch the limits of what you thought was possible!

Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunt game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate geo-caches (containers) hidden outdoors. Here's a great opportunity to learn basic navigation skills and have some treasure-hunting fun. In addition this activity lends itself well to Team Development Exercises.

Perfect for an adventure race, fire fighter, police, military training, or for a recreational thrill our rappelling walls provide 40' of adventure!


Portable 24' Climbing Tower:
Usable on our site or yours, this 24' foot climbing tower is an incredible adventure for your event, party, or group experience at NLRI.
Complete with 3 hydraulic auto-belays, this tower gets you climbing quickly!

Rainbow Direct  Play Set:
Since we can't have our younger friends miss out on the fun, our Rainbow Direct play set provides hours of entertainment! Complete with a built in 8 foot climbing wall, your youngster can share the adventure!

The Leap of Faith:
Climb the 24' pole, gather your courage, have faith in your belayers below, and leap for the target!
